Homecoming Closet Provides Dresses for Low Prices

High school homecoming is around the corner and the Junior Auxiliary of Biloxi-Ocean Springs is making sure no girl is without a homecoming dress.
Tomorrow, from 10 to 2, young ladies can stop by the Ocean Springs Senior Citizens Center and pick out a homecoming dress for $15 or less.
Throughout the year, Junior Auxiliary members collect dresses, shoes and jewelry from people in the community and local businesses. . Katie Widdows, chair of the project, hopes to build self-esteem for each young lady. “We collect dresses throughout the year from people in the community, Junior Auxiliary members, and various businesses within the community. Annually we have a spring Prom Closest and a fall Homecoming Closet. Students are welcome to attend. Nothing is over $15, including long formal dresses all the way to shoes and jewelry and accessories.”
They also have a spring Prom Closet for girls to pick out prom dresses. The homecoming and prom closets were originally started by an Ocean Springs high school student after Hurricane Katrina. The Junior Auxiliary picked up the project when she graduated.
