Hit and run suspect extradited back to Mississippi and booked on attempted first degree murder

GAUTIER, MS – The Gautier Police Department is currently investigating an aggravated assault/hit and run that occurred at 7250 Highway 57, which resulted in serious injury.

On May 6, 2021, at 3:05 a.m., Gautier police officers responded to this location in reference to a female who was struck by a vehicle. It was reported that the suspect fled the scene in a black pick-up truck, heading south on Highway 57.

While officers were responding to the assault, an accident was reported on Highway 57 near C Byrd Road. Terrance Sierra McNaughton, 21, was identified as the suspect in this case. McNaughton was not taken into custody at this time due to serious injuries sustained in the accident. This accident is being investigated by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

Due to this being an act of domestic violence, the Gautier Police Department will not release the name of the victim. Both parties were transported to medical facilities due to the seriousness of their injuries.

McNaughton was extradited back to Mississippi today and booked on Attempted 1st degree murder for the incident on May 6, 2021. McNaughton will be held at the Jackson County Adult Detention Center, awaiting his initial appearance in Gautier Municipal Court.
