Hit and Run Investigation Continues

An investigation continues as a Moss Point man sits behind bars in connection to a fatal hit and run accident in D’iberville Saturday.
Police arrested 24-year-old Markey Tanner on the charge of hit and run causing death. The victim, 22-year-old Megan Dekleinhans, was pronounced dead after she was transported to Merit Health. She was walking across Lamey Street, just north of Brodie Road when hit. Tanner is booked at the Harrison County Jail on a total bond of $500,000.
Police say while an arrest has been made, there are still plenty of unanswered questions. Captain Marty Griffin with D’iberville Police Department said, “It affects everybody, not just our community but those close to her. She has a mother, she has a father and family that are extremely upset. They’re looking for answers and it’s our job to give them those answers and bring them some kind of closure.”
Anyone with information is asked to call the D’iberville Police Department at 228-396-4252.
