High School Nation Tour Visits Ocean Springs High

Hundreds of screaming Ocean Springs High School students skipped fourth block today. It was all part of the High School Nation Tour’s ‘Interactive Experience.’
Ocean Springs High School was one of 50 locations across the U.S. chosen to learn about music, broadcasting and being part of the stage crew. Students were able to be a DJ for the day, play guitar or the drums and even listen live to multiple recording artists like Drake Bell.
Founder of High School Nation Jimmy Cantillon says his goal is to keep fine arts alive in public schools. “Students today are going to win brand new guitars, brand new DJ turntable sets. Those are all products that I’m giving for free from my sponsors just to turn around and give it to the students. The idea is that they take those and those are hopefully the last excuse they have. ‘I won a guitar, I have to learn to play guitar.’”
The school also received $10,000 worth of donations through funding and equipment for the high school’s fine arts program.
