Heavy Rain Causes Car Crashes along I-10
Today’s rain caused over a dozen accidents in a short period of time in Gulfport.
A series of car accidents caused traffic to slow along the I-10 east and west bound corridor in Gulfport this morning.
According to the police department, there were 19 crashes reported in Gulfport. The first one happened at 7 a.m. Authorities say there were no fatalities and no major injuries caused from the accidents.
Sergeant Damon McDaniel tells News 25 it’s not out of the ordinary to see an increase of accidents on I-10 when hard rain starts to pour. “We would like to ask people to reduce their speeds. It raises your awareness to the drivers around you. Do not try to drive above your means and reduce your speed, things like that would help in reducing the number of car crashes that happen and occur on Interstate 10.”
Police tell News 25 they also had calls about several accidents near the Long Beach and Pass Christian exits.
