Gulfport and Starkville awarded millions in federal grants for road projects

Some roads in Gulfport and Starkville, Mississippi, are now on the fast track for improvements, thanks to federal grant funding.

This week, U.S. Senators Roger Wicker and Cindy Hyde-Smith and U.S. Congressman Steven Palazzo announced the award of $33.1 million dollars in federal grant funding for road improvements.

The award, in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Transportation’s “Build Grant,” will assist with the construction of a new roadway and overpass in Gulfport, and support road improvements along a state highway in Starkville.

Senator Wicker says the grants will support the completion of these two high-priority projects in Mississippi that will improve safety and enhance access to important economic centers.
