Gulfport Mobile Home Catches Fire

A grandmother and her three grandkids had to evacuate their home in Gulfport after a fire started in their kitchen.
At about 7:07, the Gulfport Fire Department responded to smoke coming from a trailer in the Bayou Oaks Trailer Park. Officials say a grandmother left oil heating on the stove while she stepped out to walk her dog. Her three grandchildren were inside, but the oldest ran outside yelling “fire” when he saw flames.
Assistant manager of the park, Drew Scanlon, ran to the scene when she got a call that one of her trailers was on fire. No one was injured in the fire but a neighbor was taken to the hospital because of smoke inhalation.
The Red Cross has provided the family with a room to stay in for the time being.
