Gulfport Fire Department disaster collection relief

Since Monday, the Gulfport Fire Department has collected supplies for those in need from Hurricane Florence.

The fire department collected all types of supplies from water to toiletries and even food for pets. They could not receive or send clothes according to recipients in Wallace, North Carolina.

The Gulfport Fire Department, as well as other first responders on the Coast, made it their duty to help those going through these rough times. Gulfport Fire Department Lt. Curtis Prestwood said, “The caring and the gift giving that was given on our behalf after Katrina, I feel like it was our responsibility as public service as well as just citizens who experienced such a disaster as Katrina was to do the same thing that was done for us.”

Today was the last day the Gulfport Fire Department would be collecting supplies for relief.
