Gulfport Farmers Market Opens

Spring has sprung and so has the Gulfport Harbor Farmers Market.
Today was the first day the market reopened for the season. Under the pavilion you can find bread from Bay St. Louis, organic veggies from Saucier, honey from Gautier and much more. The market, open every Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., features items from within a 100 mile radius from farms all around Mississippi. Gulfport Harbor Farmers Market manager and founder Diane Claughton said, “The importance of buying fresh is that, especially with fruits and vegetables, they’ve been picked within a day of you buying them so they last longer, they have more nutrients in them and they haven’t been shipped out from God knows where. The other thing is supporting small local businesses. Anything that you spend at the farmers market stays in the community.”
More information on all the fresh produce can be found on their Facebook page, just search Gulfport Harbor Farmers Market.
