Gulfport donation drive nearing an end

Gulfport officials kicked off a supply drive earlier this week and Coast residents wasted no time donating toward our neighbors in need.
Trucks full of supplies are showing up to various locations in Gulfport to help aid Hurricane Harvey victims. If you’re interested in helping, drop off the specified donations at the corner of Highway 90 and 30th Avenue in Gulfport. Accepted items include number ten size cans of corn, beans, and mixed veggies. Cleaning supplies, cases of bottled water, and powder free gloves for serving are also acceptable.
The supply drive ends tomorrow at 5 p.m. Chris Vignes with the City of Gulfport Public Affairs said, “The response has been overwhelming. We’re helping our friends in Texas and Louisiana. The goods are coming in. If you have items that can immediately be used, like cleaning supplies, tools, bring them by Gulfport City Hall between 8 and 5 until Friday. We’re there. Every load counts, from small to big. So, we appreciate everybody’s help.”
Additional collection sites include Compton and Sons Appliance in Gulfport, Borguezan Granite in Pass Christian, and J. Carter and Co. Real Estate in downtown Gulfport.
The supplies will head out to Texas on Tuesday, September 5th.
