Gulf Resort Classic to Tee Off Friday Morning
It’s the sixth year south Mississippi has played host to this Champions Tour, showcasing golfers age 50 and older. Golf pros and locals are warming up for this week’s pro-am on Wednesday and Thursday, when locals will play side by side with this year’s competitors. The tournament officially tees off on Friday with an expected overall economic impact of $15 million in south Mississippi.
David Stinson, General Manager of Fallen Oak, says, “Well the expectations are always a little bit more each year. You know, the field here is the best field we’ve had since this is our sixth year. We’re hoping for great weather. We’ve been challenged off and on with weather. We hope for a good week and hope to see people out here this weekend.”
Gates open at 7 a.m. Friday morning.
