Gulf Coast Center for Nonviolence receives grant to fight human trafficking

The Gulf Coast Center for Nonviolence has received a Department of Justice grant to help further their mission.

Nearly $380,000 has been awarded to the Center for Nonviolence to help fight human trafficking in South Mississippi.

The grant will be held by the center for a three-year period and allows them to expand support services and assist human trafficking victims with finding safe housing and employment.

CEO Stacey Riley says the money is a big help in the fight to raise awareness on the dangers of trafficking. “In our community here in South Mississippi, this will allow us to better serve, but also continue to educate the community on the dynamics of that.”

The grant also had the support of U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Mississippi Mike Hurst.
