Governor Tate Reeves signs medical marijuana bill
Medical marijuana is now law in the state of Mississippi.
Governor Tate Reeves signed the bill yesterday and while he noted he might have written it differently, he previously told WXXV that medical marijuana could benefit Mississippians in need.
Reeves said that his goal from the outset was to create a program that didn’t encourage recreational use, though he added that is impossible.
Harry Gonsoulin, owner of Doctor Feel Good Botanicals, had a few things to say on the historic bill. “A lot of people are going to be out of pain now, without having to go to the Wal-Mart parking lot and pick up something from somebody that you don’t know what you’re getting. But that’s what people do to stay out of pain. It’s an amazing thing what they did. Even me, now I can get it for my back, and now you don’t have to worry about getting it from wherever you get it from.”
The bill was altered almost 50 times before it passed through the House and the Senate.
