Gautier Police Catch Armed Robbery Suspects
Two teenage suspects involved in an armed robbery in Gautier are now facing a possible 20 year jail sentence.
Police responded to an armed robbery at FastMart on Gautier-Vancleave Road where they learned two suspects robbed the store with a hand gun. One was wearing a wolf mask and one had a bandana tied around his face.
After the robbery, authorities say the suspects fled toward the Cambridge Park area where Gautier police were able to arrest them. Seventeen-year-old James Matthews and 16-year-old Jamil Matthews are behind bars for the crime.
Police tell News 25 both juveniles will be charged as adults. Lieutenant Danny Patrick with Gautier Police Department said, “It’s a life decision, something of that magnitude. In an armed robbery, you’re making a decision that’s going to affect your entire life. Why be shortsighted? Try to think about your life and what you can be instead of right now, just for the moment.”
Gautier police say the FastMart in Gautier has been robbed many times before and this latest armed robbery is still under investigation.
