Four New West Nile Cases Confirmed in Mississippi

Mississippi health officials are confirming four new cases of West Nile. This brings the state’s total to 19 cases this year.
Two of the cases of the mosquito borne virus were reported in Hinds County, one in Lee County and one in Marion County.
So far, one death due to West Nile has been reported in 2016 in Hinds County.
In 2015, Mississippi had 38 West Nile cases and one death.
The Department of Health recommends removing standing water where mosquitoes could breed and using repellent.
