Fish fry benefit for Robert McKeithen

Merit Health in Biloxi cooked up a southern favorite to benefit the family of fallen Officer Robert McKeithen and the Biloxi Police Department.

Plates of fried catfish were served for just a $10 donation. ‘Thin blue line’ bracelets and t-shirts were also available for purchase and sold out within hours.

Local businesses donated to a raffle held at the fish fry which also benefited the family of Officer McKeithen.

Officials from Merit Health tell News 25 that the outpouring of support from the public was overwhelming. Merit Health Biloxi CEO Rob Calhoun said, “You know, Officer McKeithen was at our hospital 15 minutes before this all happened. He just left our ER and it really does hit home. Collectively, our hospital and our board, medical staff want to give back and say ‘we support you guys, you’re part of our family. We’re glad you’re here and we’re there for you.’”

Calhoun says they raised about $15,000 for Officer McKeithen’s family and the Biloxi Police Department.
