First Friday and the District Green Block Party took over Downtown Biloxi Friday

Downtown Biloxi was very lively this evening as Biloxi Main Street’s First Friday coincided with the District Green’s Block Party.

The block party kicked off at noon on Howard Avenue at the new District Green and featured live music, food trucks, and Fly Llama Brewing until 9:30 with Blackwater Brass closing out the night.

Restaurants, shops, and vendors throughout Rue Magnolia and the Biloxi Art District also participated in Biloxi’s monthly First Friday event from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Biloxi Mayor Andrew ‘FoFo’ Gilich said, “Well it really is– after a year of what we experienced in 2020, I mean, it’s awesome. Just look around. You can feel– not so many masks, but you know we’re in a good situation with vaccines. And, you know, it’s time. You can feel this is sort of a fresh look at where we’re going to be. I’m just really excited about the opportunity to start this revival.”

Mayor Gilich believes the District Green and Howard Avenue will soon be the happening place in Biloxi, similar to what it was like in the 40s and 50s.
