Final Mardi Gras Preparations Are Being Made

Fat Tuesday is less than a week away, which means final preparations are being completed.

The Gulf Coast Carnival Association’s float den in Biloxi is full of brightly colored floats. Parade goers can expect to see one new float riding through town as they line the streets on Tuesday. On Thursday, tires were checked and floats were loaded with beads. Now, only a few more last minute items need to be taken care of.

Doug Blom, float builder, says, "The music people come put the music on, they fill the generators with gas, they’ve already been checked. Then Tuesday, the National Guard will come here, hook them up, and pull them to the parade route."

The Carnival Association is hoping for better weather than last year, which was cold and rainy.
