Fatal Shooting in Biloxi

A Biloxi High student is in jail tonight. He is being charged as an adult with murder in the shooting death of his mother’s boyfriend. Sixteen year old Treylan Hunter is being held on a $100,000 bond, as police continue to investigate what led up to last night’s fatal shooting.
As Biloxi police continued their investigation into the fatal shooting of 32-year-old Jeremy Lowery, neighbors paced outside the crime scene trying to make sense of it all. “It’s devastating. Everybody is just trying to find out what’s going on or what happened,” said neighbor Kristin Antoine.
Police arrested Treylan Hunter Tuesday night at the home Hunter, his mother and Lowery shared on Auguste Court in west Biloxi. Investigators say Hunter shot his mother’s boyfriend after a verbal altercation broke out between Lowery, Hunter and others at the scene. “I just saw a whole bunch of police cars and you know that I heard they just moved here from, I don’t know where, but out of town. It’s just sad that he’s only 16 and now he’s in jail and it’s sad,” said Antoine.
Several neighbors tell News 25 Hunter, the oldest of five children, is shy and very close to his mother. He would do anything to protect his mother. Neighbors allege Lowery had physically abused Hunter’s mother on more than one occasion.
According to the Biloxi Police Department they had never been to the residence before the shooting.
“We hope he gets out of it because he’s still got a whole life ahead of him and to be in jail, I just hope he gets out,” said Antoine, “I haven’t heard anything else since I’ve been here. I’ve been here for at least two years and never heard anything else. It’s just sad.”
News 25 reached out to Biloxi High School Principal Marcus Boudreaux about the case. He declined to comment.
If you have any information about this case, you’re asked to call the Biloxi Police Department.
