Dog abuse charges dropped
Animal cruelty charges have been dropped from a Gulfport man who was accused of beating his dog in December 2016.
The Biloxi Municipal Court dismissed the charges on Billy Swain this morning due to lack of evidence.
The video taken by his daughter-in-law shows Swain allegedly yelling at the dog and then punching something in his truck. Swain was arrested after the video went viral on Facebook.
A source tells News 25 animal control officers made weekly visits to Swain’s home to check on the dog and found no evidence of abuse and say the dog seemed perfectly fine.
Prosecutor Robert Harenski says they had to drop the case because the video was misleading.
