Discussing Your Home’s “Weakest Link” with Hurricane Chaser Josh Morgerman
We talk with a local hurricane chaser and owner of the "hurricane-proof" house about how to identify your home's "weakest link."
Today we spoke with Josh Morgerman, a local hurricane chaser and owner of the “Hurricane House,” a home designed from the ground up to survive the worst of hurricane season. Josh is the world’s leading hurricane chaser, willingly placing himself directly in the path of the strongest storms each year, amassing over 80 “penetrations.” After seeing the what these storms are capable of, Josh has made it his mission to offer advice on how coastal residents can better prepare their homes for a potential landfall.
This year he’s asking people to identify their home’s “weakest link,” the biggest threat specifically to their home and safety and address it as soon as possible. Hurricane season preparation takes time and money, and can often be overwhelming as the season begins. Breaking it down to one thing you can do right now to make your house safer can make it more manageable, hopefully increasing the number of homeowners who will be ready for Hurricane Season 2026.
