D’Iberville Fire Department adds tablets to trucks

D’Iberville Fire Department has recently added some new technology to all first out apparatus.
After securing a small grant from F.M. Global, the fire department installed tablets in all their fire trucks. These tablets will help firefighters do things such as find addresses, hydrant locations, and they will have pre-stored incident plans on commercial structures throughout the city. Fire Chief Gerald Smith said, “What this does is it gives the guys the information whenever they are away from the station. They have information at their fingertips. This is just the start. This is just getting the equipment in with some of the basics right now, but in the future we are looking towards upgrading.”
The chief tells News 25 that this new technology will help increase the speed that firemen are able to work at.
