D’Iberville Fire Department accepting donations
The D’Iberville Fire Department opened its station as a location to donations for Harvey victims.
Hundreds of items filled the semi-truck from Gollott and Sons with cleaning supplies, non-perishable food items, water, and hygiene items.
The Shed BBQ in Jackson County also came in with hundreds of pallets and helped donate loaves of bread for people in the Houston area.
D’Iberville Fire Chief Gerald Smith tell News 25 this isn’t the first time they’ve had to lend a helping hand to a city in need. “We’ve done this several times. Last time we had a big donation drop off point was for the flood victims in Louisiana. We know people need help. We had a lot of help after Katrina. So, we’re returning the favor and we’re able to be a drop off point. We help coordinate collecting supplies and getting them shipped to the places that need them.”
Today was the last day to donate any of those items to the D’Iberville Fire Department. They plan to head out to Texas with the donations tomorrow.
