Dense Fog Advisory for Mississippi Coast until noon Wednesday
The National Weather Service has issued a Dense Fog Advisory, which is in effect until 12:00 noon Wednesday.
Sea fog has reduced visibility along the Mississippi Coast, mainly to the south of Interstate 10 with the greatest impacts along Highway 90 and Pass Road. Visibility will typically range from 1/2 mile to 1 mile.
Drivers are urged to slow down and use caution when driving in foggy areas. Very warm and moist air blowing over cool waters near the coast has caused dense sea fog to develop over portions of the Mississippi Sound, tidal lakes, and inner coastal waters.
Visibility will improve with the passage of cold front later this morning.
The National Weather Service says, “Inexperienced mariners, especially those operating smaller vessels, should avoid navigating in these conditions.”
