Dedication of Wiggins Police Station

It was a special day in the City of Wiggins as people gathered to dedicate the newly renovated police station.

After five years of displacement, the Wiggins Police Department is back under one roof. The department evacuated the station due to environmental issues.

Thanks to the Seabees and grant funding the city was able to renovate the building.

It is also National Police Week and the city took the opportunity to honor the memory of fallen Wiggins police officers. Wiggins Mayor Joel Miles said, “This is an example of not coming home to your family at night. They go through a lot and do a lot that the normal person doesn’t see on a daily basis.”

Sgt. Timhothy Hill said, “It’s emotional and hard, but at the same time we want to celebrate their life as well so just thinking about the life that they lived, serving the public. It brings joy.”

Henry Bond, the son of fallen Wiggins officer, said, “We were kind of surprised they named the complex after our dad. We’re really thankful for it and we appreciate the City of Wiggins and the county.”

The official sign for the police station will be placed on the building in the coming weeks.
