Decade of Growth Event at Memorial Hospital

“The worst of nature but the absolute best of humanity,” that was how Gulfport Mayor Billy Hewes describes the atmosphere of Memorial Hospital during Hurricane Katrina.
Hewes, along with Memorial staff and administration, reflected on the hospital’s resilience today during the “Decade of Growth” event in the hospital atrium. The event highlighted all of the progress made throughout several departments in the last ten years.
Since the storm, the hospital focuses on “standing stronger”, adding a main patient tower and a new state of the art neonatal intensive care unit.
President and CEO of Memorial Hospital Gary Marchand said, “I really cannot say enough good things about our medical staff, our nursing staff, our therapists, all our providers, all our people that support them. It’s the people that helped us get to where we are today.”
“United States News” and “World Report” ranked Memorial a “Best Mississippi Hospital” in 2014 and 2015.
