Crossing guards needed for Ocean Springs Schools

Grab an orange vest and a stop sign because Ocean Springs needs you.

The City of Ocean Springs is in need of two school crossing guards. Crossing guards are responsible for making sure the children are safe entering and leaving school grounds.

The pay has been increased to $20 an hour, working approximately 10 hours a week.

Sgt. Paul Regan says it is important to fulfill the two roles because right now the traffic division officers are filling the gaps which means they are not able to enforce the school zone laws. “It is a taxing job. It’s not easy, but a lot of our crossing guards have been in their spot for a long time, so they do become a member of the school community. They get a good relationship with the parents and the students, and they really find it a fulfilling job.”

If you are interested in applying, you can visit the City of Ocean Springs website. Click on employment, scroll down to school crossing guard, double click on school crossing guard, and then fill out the application.
