A hand-made wooden cross is missing from a homeless man’s memorial in Gulfport.
This is the site where homeless man Russell bangs lived and was unfortunately found dead in January 2015.
His body was discovered by friends in the water of the tunnel he used to sleep in behind Barnes and Noble in Gulfport.
Lynda Favre of shepherd of the gulf who cares for the homeless in the area held a candle light vigil for friends of bangs after he passed away
They had a six foot cross custom made so friends could sign it and forever memorialize him.
Favre tells News 25 the cross which was at least 18 inches in the ground has been missing for a month.
