Community Addresses Crime
A group of people fed up with crime they say is plaguing the Gulf Coast met tonight to address the issues. They say the answers won’t be found in a jail cell. Mass incarceration and drugs are just a few of the topics local organizations discussed during a community meeting in Gulfport tonight. The event, titled Promises Unmet, aims to address criminal activity along the Coast and how to reduce it.
Event organizers say there’s no doubt the community struggles with violence. They say the solution to creating a safer atmosphere for all residents is not more jailing.
The event was held at the Isaiah Fredricks Community Center in Gulfport.
