Cold weather shelters opening across South Mississippi

Local shelters are preparing for the cold weather, including those run by Seashore Mission and Loaves and Fishes.

Over the weekend volunteers with both groups cleaned a cold weather shelter located at the Harrison County Multi-Purpose Building on Auto Mall Parkway in D’Iberville.

Also in preparation, leaders with Seashore Mission and Loaves and Fishes participated in a walk-through with county representatives on Monday.

The shelter will be open when the forecast is for 40 degrees or below. Wind chill may result in opening even if the forecast is for temperatures above 40.
