Cold Weather Shelters to open tonight
With another cold night ahead of us the Salvation Army is getting ready to open their cold weather shelters.
The cold weather shelters opened in Gulfport and Pascagoula this evening at 4:30 p.m. This is the second night in a row the shelters will open their doors.
If anyone you know needs a warm place to spend the night or a warm meal anyone is welcome but guests do need to pass a breathalyzer to enter. Major Bradley Caldwell with the Salvation Army said, “Particularly when there has been a lot of precipitation, that chill in the air can penetrate and make it even more unhealthy and unsafe to be outside. So, when they can come in here and stay warm and dry and eat a good meal than I think they are much better off.”
Officials with the Salvation Army say they will decide if they are opening the shelter on Thursday night in the morning.
