Cold Weather Shelters Open Along the Coast for Freezing Weather

You may have noticed temperatures dropping quick on the Coast. Later on Tuesday night, they will be well in to the low 30s.

That’s why the Salvation Army is opening their Gulf Coast cold weather shelters Tuesday night. These shelters open any time the temperatures reach below freezing. The doors opened at 4 p.m. Dinner and breakfast will be served to residents.

Laura Bianco, Public Relations Director for the Salvation Army, says, "It gives someone who doesn’t have it a nice warm bed to sleep in and a hot meal, and fellowship. We play bingo, we do karaoke, and we have lots of fun, so it gives them an opportunity to fellowship together and to have a warm place to stay."

The cold weather shelters will be open Wednesday and Thursday nights as well.
