Coast VA Held Service for Those Depressed During Holidays

For most, the holidays mean happiness and joyful time with loved ones, but for some, the holidays aren’t so joyful. That’s why the Gulf Coast VA offered a Longest Night service in support of people who may be having a difficult time this holiday season dealing with personal loss, illness, loneliness, or struggles with grief.

Jo Kirkendall, Chaplain, says, “It’s an opportunity to acknowledge that not everything is okay, that I’m not really feeling very happy this time, so it gives people an opportunity to express that.”

This is an annual service, so if you didn’t have a chance to attend the service Tuesday night, you can always attend next year’s service, as the event is held every year on the night of the winter solstice.
