City of Long Beach celebrating America 250 with 4th of July Jubilee

LONG BEACH, Miss. (WXXV)- The countdown to America 250 is on and as the nation plans for this historic milestone, communities across the Gulf Coast are already getting ready for the celebration.

WXXV News 25’s Everett Ganier Jr. takes us to Long Beach with a preview of this year’s 4th of July Jubilee and what to expect ahead of the festivities.

In the heart of downtown, the City of Long Beach is already looking ahead to America’s 250th birthday and planning a celebration that brings history, heritage, and hometown pride into focus. Long Beach Community Affairs Director Courtney Welch said, “Long Beach is celebrating America 250 with our Long Beach 4th of July Jubilee. Every year we hold it the Saturday before the 4th, so this year it will be on June 27th. It’s an all-day event with a festival in the morning, a parade at six o’clock, a block party with the livestock band, and then at 8:45 there will be fireworks and then live music ends at 11. So, it’s going to be an all-day event, we encourage everyone to come out, bring a lawn chair, enjoy the parade and shop and eat local with Long Beach.”

Offering a full day of free, family-friendly festivities, the celebration transforms downtown Long Beach into a festival hub.

Featuring local artists, food vendors, and interactive activities that highlight creative spirit and community.

After a patriotic parade, the energy shifts to a live music block party and to close out the night with visitors gathering along for a fireworks show, lighting up the Coast in a celebration of America’s 250 years. “To help celebrate and go all out for America 250, we’re encouraging all of our businesses and homeowners to really decorate. If you’re in the parade decorate with American flags, bring all the decorations, blow-ups, everything you can name. City hall will be decorated. We’ll have our fire truck over Jeff Davis with the giant flag. So, we really just want to go all out and we’ll have American flags lining Jeff Davis Avenue.

“If you’re interested in being a vendor or participating in the parade, message us on Facebook or you’re more than welcome to email us at lbmsmainstreet@gmail.com for a spot available at the parade or a vendor for the festival.”
