Citations up for this year’s Spring Break Weekend
Spring Break was two weeks ago. The Biloxi Police Department has released numbers on the weekend.
The estimated number of guests were about 70,000 less than expected and the overall number of calls for help were down this year by nearly half.
Last year over one thousand calls came in for help, as for this year only 552, but the amount of citations were up from last year.
Two hundred and seventy-nine tickets were issued this year where as last year only 196 were issued. Biloxi Police Chief John Miller said, “Several people that pulled out of the lane of traffic and into the emergency lane, I don’t know what they were thinking, but we would stop them, their license would be suspended and they would get a citation for that.”
Chief Miller tells News 25 most of the tickets issued were for people driving in the emergency lane.
