Centennial Plaza offering free rooms at Oasis Hotel to healthcare workers and first responders

The Centennial Plaza in Gulfport is opening its doors as a gesture of thanks to all who are fighting on the front line during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Centennial Plaza, one of the newest additions to the Gulf Coast, is saying a special thank you to the men and women saving live during the COVID-19 crisis. “We’ve rolled out a program with our vacant hotels because of the state of affairs with COVID-19. Everything is shut down and we just couldn’t bear to see. Our hearts were broken because our hotels are closed and we have space in rooms for people to utilize and we’re seeing that the doctors and nurses healthcare professionals and first responders are struggling with bringing possibly the virus home to their family to their love ones. We really wanted to help them limit their exposure and flatten that curve I mean that’s the number one goal right”

The plaza is making it’s 35 room Oasis Hotel available free of charge. Director of Public Relations for Lodge and Leisure Tessy Lambert says this is the least they could do to show how much they appreciate those on the front lines. “The community, when we opened embraced us with open arms. So in this moment, we really wanted to do the same and this fit us perfectly. It couldn’t of been a better way for us to show our love for our community and those helping everyone else”

Lambert says once the outbreak subsides the Centennial Plaza will be back up and running and ready to welcome visitors. “We would clean the hotel rooms very well afterward. We have every sanitation equipment needed to kill this virus. Our rooms will sit for three to five days, long enough for everything to settle down and then we would clean it again before we ever re-open the building.”
