Casting for Conservation

The Coastal Conservation Association is the chief marine conservation association representing the interests of recreational saltwater anglers, but they also like to keep young anglers busy as well.
Tomorrow, they will be hosting Casting for Conservation. This will be a fun and free experience for young anglers ages 4 to 13. The event will be from 8 to noon at Beach Park Pier in Pascagoula. Kids participating will receive their own rod and reel, tackle, bait and a t-shirt. The event is just one way the fast growing group can give back to the Coast.
Jim Brumfield, with the Coastal Conservation Association, said, “We have members that are local, individual members. We have country music stars and then we have corporations such as Shell Oil. We also help out with our youth. We have over 1,000 kids scattered across the Gulf Coast that are involved in a project where we take them out and furnish them with free fishing gear.”
Think First will be giving out life jackets, as long as they last, to the youngsters. Young anglers should come hungry. Lunch will be provided.
