Casting for Conservation event

Dozens of kids and families lined the bank Saturday at Point Cadet Plaza for the Casting for Conservation fishing tournament.
The Coastal Conservation Association hosted a day of fishing, marine education, and some splash pad fun. Casting for Conservation gave kids a chance to learn new things about fishing and how to do it properly so that fish stay safe and healthy. Casting for Conservation Director Glenn Grannan said, “We give away approximately maybe 200 or 250 fishing poles at each event. They get bait. They get tackle. They learn how to tie knots. They learn how to use hooks that help fish survive if they are caught and released. If you get a kid interested in fishing they will fish and that will protect the fisheries.”
Each youth angler left with a t-shirt and a free fishing pole.
