Casey Vaughan wins Gautier mayoral race
Gautier has a new mayor after incumbent Phil Torjusen fell short, receiving only 46 percent of the votes.
Casey Vaughan won with 53 percent of the votes. Vaughan has served as a councilman for Ward 3 before deciding to run for mayor. He ran unopposed for that position in 2017, earning him a second term representing Ward 3.
Vaughan tells News 25 he is excited to continue his work in promoting growth within the City of Gautier. “I look forward to the things coming to Gautier. I look forward to us growing Gautier together. We need to engage everybody and we all need to be positive. I look forward to all that and working with the city manager and her staff and the council. We have a great City Council and I look forward to continuing working with them.”
Charles Anderson won Ward 4 with 65 percent of the votes. The councilmember at large position and wards 1, 2, 3, and 5 ran unopposed.
