Carl Legett Fishing Tournament weigh-ins

The 23rd annual Carl Legget Fishing Tournament continued today with weigh-ins beginning at 4 p.m.
The fishing rodeo consists of three different categories of offshore and inshore division and freshwater fish. Fishermen can enter in 12 different fish types and it’s all for the $26,000 guaranteed tournament pay out, along with daily prizes of $5,000.
Participants tell News 25 that the rain did not keep them away and were still able to reel in some fish. Participant Donald Bosarge said, “It’s the first day so we hope to catch something bigger and also trout. We’re fishing for trout, too and redfish and hopefully we’ll catch some of those to weigh in, but we only caught the blackfish today.”
Tomorrow, the events continue with a kids fishing tournament, a car show, more weigh-ins and a bikini contest. The tournament will end Sunday with an awards ceremony.
