Bus Accident Sends Six to Hospital in Stone County

All children are safe after a scary moment on their way to school this morning in Stone County.
A bus full of students was heading to Perkinston Elementary School around 7 a.m. when a truck rear-ended it on McHenry Road. Six students were sent to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries, mostly as a precautionary measure.
Sheriff officials tell News 25 it was more of a scare for the kids and especially the parents more than anything else. Chief Deputy Phyllis Olds said, “A gentleman ran into the back of the school bus, the sun in his eyes probably contributed to it. When it hit the back of the bus, some of the children got shook up a good bit, but it was all minor injuries.”
The sheriff’s department tells News 25 immediately following that crash was another wreck where a car read-ended a vehicle that had stopped for the bus accident.
