Buckets for Beaumont

Jackson County is giving back to help out the victims of Hurricane Harvey and has put together Buckets for Beaumont.
Buckets for Beaumont is a flood bucket project for citizens of Beaumont, Texas, the area that received over 45 inches of rain. Three locations in Jackson County are accepting the five gallon buckets, filled with cleaning supplies, soap, gloves, and trash bags.
Ocean Springs Lumber on Government Street is one of the locations and they say they’re all too familiar with needing helping after Hurricane Katrina affected their lives as well. Jon Biggs with OS Lumber said, “We all remember Katrina. Some of us weren’t here and some of us were, but we remembered how important those initial cleaning supplies were and how grateful we were to have them. So, we decided we’d jump in and help out a little bit and it kind of snowballed a little. We got several pallets of them out back stacked up, ready to go.”
Today was the last day for people to fill up their flood buckets for the flood bucket project, but Ocean Springs Lumber has said they will continue to take donations for the next couple of weeks.
