Brittney Reese Olympic Watch Party

Gulfport’s own Brittney Reese qualifies for the women’s long jump finals in the 2016 Summer Olympic Games.
Her family and friends joined other Coast residents for an Olympic viewing party at Buffalo Wild Wings in Gulfport.
The restaurant filled tables and walls with Team USA decorations and even had life-size print out of Brittney for fans to take selfies with.
Reese’s mother made the trip to Rio de Janeiro to support Brittney as she competes in what her family says is her final Olympics. Brittney’s sister Kimyata Young said, “And three other family members are also there. So, they’re excited but when I watch, I do be very excited. I’m screaming and hollering. I watch the whole thing. My mama closes her eyes, but I don’t close my eyes because I want to see everything.”
Reese was the first jumper to automatically qualify with a jump of 22 feet and three inches.
The women’s long jump finals are set to start Wednesday evening at 7:15.
