Black bear sightings across the Coast
If you live in D’Iberville or near our coastal waters, you may want to keep an eye out for unusual visitors.
D’Iberville police say a black bear was spotted Monday in the area of West Gay Road and Pierce Road.
Officers say recent flooding along our waterways combined with the time of year has led to more bear sightings across South Mississippi.
Black bears are generally shy, but should never be approached or cornered.
The Mississippi American Black Bear is a protected species under state law and officials say the bear will likely move on as it continues roaming the area.
