Biloxi Fire Department Wins the Fill the Boot Challenge
It’s hard to imagine what it is like to walk a mile in a fireman’s shoes. Recently, fire departments along the Coast asked residents to fill their boots for a good cause.
This was all part of the Red Kettle Campaign for the Salvation Army. Multiple fire departments along the Coast participated in the Fill the Boot Challenge, seeing which group could raise the most money for one day outside of their neighborhood Walmart.
Biloxi Fire Department came in first place, raising over $900 for the Salvation Army. Biloxi Chief Joe Boney said, “We work for the community all year long. This kind of just shows the public that we’re out there also supporting other community leaders and service organizations.”
The D’iberville Police Department came in first place for the Salvation Army’s Coast Police Challenge for collecting the highest amount during the holiday campaign.
