Biloxi Fire Department Hosts a Benefit Lunch

First responders were on the front lines in Biloxi today, as firefighters traded their fire hoses for spoons. They served up barbecue plate lunches for a good cause for one of their own, fire mechanic Allen Brindley, who is battling a life threatening illness.
Dozens of people lined up for the $7 meals, complete with trademark pulled pork barbecue, potato salad and baked beans.
Biloxi Fire Chief Joe Boney says today was a fitting day for barbecue, community service and raising money to help out one of their own with mounting medical costs.
“We chose September 11th because the community gives back to us so much during that time,” said Boney, “and we wanted to show support for the community and our own, you know.”
Brindley said, “It’s great that they’re doing this. I mean, I’ve got hospital bills and it’s unreal. People calling and wanting money, it seems like it’s all I hear.”
Today’s lunch was sponsored by the Biloxi Fire Department Firefighter’s Relief Fund.
