Biloxi city officials pushing for a newsletter

The City of Biloxi is working on an all new way to keep citizens informed on the happenings in their city.
Currently, the city offers information through their website and email services aka ‘B-Mail.’ Biloxi spends about $70,000 a year on state and federally mandated postcards and mail outs. Now they’re searching for a business to sponsor a monthly print newsletter which will deliver all of that information right to residents’ doorsteps.
The publication would cost about $120,000 annually and be distributed to 250,000 homes and businesses each month. Vincent Creel with the City of Biloxi Public Affairs said, “Right now, the City of Biloxi spends an inordinate amount of money on all the mail outs we do, most are required by the federal government. Do you have flood insurance? Here’s what you need to know this storm season. Here’s the water quality report for the drinking water we give you. What we want to do is combine all of that in to one thing. Do it in an eight page newsletter that comes out once a month that’s got a beautiful calendar of events in it.”
Sealed bids to sponsor the newsletter must be made by November 29th at a suggested minimum of around $4,500 a month. The city hopes to put out its first January issue in the last week of December.
