Big donation from Merit Health kept in community

Thousands of dollars are now in the hands of local non-profit organizations and local college programs thanks to Merit Health in Biloxi.
Over $75,000 was donated to help health, science, and medical programs offered at local colleges and over $270,000 was given to several non-profit organizations to continue their services within our community.
Merit Health Board Chairman Rob Briscoe tells News 25 organizations like Loaves and Fishes and Back Bay Mission could use the extra help over the holiday season. “It gives you a real good feeling, especially knowing, having been to Loaves and Fishes and Back Bay Missions, having been there and seeing what they do helping people that are needy, hungry, looking for a place to sleep.”
Some of the colleges to receive a part of the $75,000 donation include Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, the University of Southern Mississippi, and the schools of nursing at William Carey.
