Better Access from Railway Platform in Biloxi
On tonight’s Biloxi City Council was a resolution to submit a grant application to the Southern Rail Commission for funds to help make the current CTA building in Biloxi more accessible. This will help when citizens get off of the restored passenger rail service and need to walk across the street to the CTA station.
The funds would be enough to pay for a pedestrian walkover that would ultimately provide safe connectivity. Biloxi Mayor Andrew ‘FoFo’ Gilich tells News 25 it’s just going to take a little work to make it happen. “The old train station was located between Caillavet and Reynoir. We have to be adjacent to the multi-mobile center. We’ll move that existing platform to the east on the east side of Reynoir Street and it’s just another landing place, so we can go to the station across the street.”
Also during tonight’s City Council meeting, Oscar Renda Contracting broke down the status of their job on the infrastructure project in East Biloxi so the Council could better understand why it is taking them so long to finish the job.
