Beau Rivage employees help deliver grants to 26 South Mississippi nonprofits

Beau Rivage employees are stepping up to support nonprofits making a difference across South Mississippi.

Team members visited several local organizations to present grant checks and see firsthand how those donations will help strengthen the community.

More than $347, 000 is heading to 26 nonprofit programs serving the Mississippi Gulf Coast, thanks to the generosity of Beau Rivage employees and guests.

Stops include first at the De L’Epee Deaf Center, where funding will support programs for deaf youth. De L’Epee Deaf Center Director Greg Crapo said, “Receiving this grant at this point in time is like a God send because money has been very difficult recently for the deaf center. The deaf community is one that you don’t see, so it’s harder to find funding for it because people don’t see it as a disability. It’s not something that they readily acknowledge and you can be right next to a deaf person anywhere that you are and not know it. So, it is an invisible disability, many times it’s not even a disability it’s just a difference but the thing is we needed funds to operate our programs and the deaf children living in a hearing world is a program that we are very proud of and MGM and Beau Rivage supporting that program is just awesome. It makes us be able to continue doing what we do on a daily basis.”

Next, a stop at the Institute for Marine Mammal Studies, helping expand immersive field trips and scholarship opportunities for underserved students. IMMS President/Director/CEO Dr. Moby Solangi said, “Well, I think we’re really proud that the Beau Rivage considers conservation and the protection of the marine environment and IMMS is the front runners in this field protecting dolphins and sea turtles. And I think it reflects on the environment in the community. It’s important that when people come to the Coast in addition to seeing and going to the Beau Rivage, they enjoy the Coast. And if you don’t protect the wildlife why would people want to come?”

And last but not least, the Boys and Girls Club of the Gulf Coast, where the grant will strengthen the Impact First Jobs Workforce Readiness Program. Senior Director of Administration Morgan Bogolin said, “Beau Rivage has been a partner of Boys and Girls Club for many, many years and we can always count on them to support programs like this and to support the community and the needs of the youth in our community. So, we’re really appreciative to them to be able to help us continue our mission here at Boys and Girls Clubs and with the impact mentoring program.”

Since launching the program, Beau Rivage has awarded millions of dollars to local nonprofits, continuing its commitment to strengthening communities across South Mississippi.
